This Flanders Red Ale, an Arctic wild ale matured for 12 months in barrels, presents a sophisticated sensory landscape. Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of tart black cherry and dark fruit leather are layered over distinct barnyard funk and earthy, rustic notes. Secondary aromas include toasted wheat, subtle vanilla from the wood, and a mild, pleasant acetic sharpness. No hop aroma is present.

Taste. Initial impression is a balanced, complex acidity. Rich malt flavors of toasted bread and cracked wheat support deep fruit notes of dried figs and plums. The wild influence manifests as a savory fresh hay character. Bitterness is restrained, with the structure provided by mild oak tannins and a prickly, clean sourness. The finish is dry and lingering with a touch of fruit skin and vinous character.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a slightly creamy texture from the raw wheat. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present. Low to medium astringency from the barrel tannins enhances the structured, wine-like mouthfeel.
