Brown candy sugar is added to this blend to make the beer sweeter. Faro, already popular in the 16th century, was more affordable than the standard lambic beer and its rich spicy and candy-like taste was particularly popular among women and young people. There are not many breweries left that make faro beer however. Boon faro is a beautiful example of a faro beer.
