This colossal Imperial Stout, aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels, presents an opulent sensory tapestry. Deep layers of bittersweet chocolate, espresso, and molasses from the heavy roast are seamlessly interwoven with the spiritous elegance of the charred oak. The barrel aging imparts rich notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, and a touch of spicy bourbon soak. Dark fruit esters of black currant and fig emerge as the beer warms, balanced by a firm, resinous bitterness. It is a viscous, multi-layered masterpiece with a lingering, warming finish that celebrates the intense collaboration between Pühaste, AF Brew, and Zagovor through its immense barrel-aged pedigree.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, dense, dark tan to mocha-colored head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is evident by prominent legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and black licorice. The Heaven Hill barrels contribute pronounced bourbon, vanilla, and charred oak. Secondary notes of raisins and prunes are supported by a clean, noticeable alcohol warmth.
Taste. Intense and multi-layered. Initial sweetness of molasses and caramel is met by aggressive roasted flavors of cocoa and espresso. The mid-palate reveals bourbon-soaked oak and vanilla. Bitterness is firm and resinous, balancing the massive malt backbone. The finish is long, bittersweet, and warming with lingering dark fruit.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a velvety, chewy, and viscous texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, significant alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 13.5% ABV without being sharp or harsh.
