Pühaste’s Melu is a vibrant, modern take on the American Pale Ale, utilizing a Norwegian Kveik yeast strain to amplify its hop-driven fruitiness. The trio of Idaho Gem, Centennial, and Simcoe hops provides a multi-layered sensory experience, leading with notes of pineapple, red berries, and bright citrus. Simcoe adds an earthy, resinous depth that anchors the flamboyant tropical tones, while Centennial provides a classic floral lift. A lean malt profile provides just enough bready structure to support the moderate bitterness without overshadowing the fruit-forward character. The result is a refreshing, highly drinkable ale that finishes clean with a lingering touch of pine and stone fruit.

Appearance. Pale golden to deep gold (approx. 6-8 SRM). It features a moderately large, creamy white head with excellent retention and fine lacing. The clarity is generally clear, though a very slight haze from dry-hopping is present.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Strong hop presence dominated by Idaho Gem’s red fruit and cherry notes, complemented by Centennial’s citrus zest and Simcoe’s classic pine and earthy undertones. The Kveik yeast contributes subtle, clean orange esters. Low, neutral bready maltiness provides a quiet backbone.

Taste. Initial impression is punchy and fruit-forward, showcasing sweet pineapple and grapefruit. Centennial brings a floral and lemon quality, while Simcoe offers a resinous bite. Moderate bitterness provides firm structure but remains balanced against a low malt profile of clean pale grains and light biscuit. The Kveik fermentation keeps the profile crisp, leading to a dry, clean finish with a lingering berry-like aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. The texture is smooth and refreshing with no astringency or harshness. Alcohol warmth is negligible at this strength, enhancing drinkability.
