Overtone Extraction is an inventive take on the American IPA, elegantly bridging the gap between vibrant New Zealand hops and aromatic roasted coffee. The sensory experience is led by the distinctive profile of Nelson Sauvin, contributing intense notes of crushed white grape and passionfruit, while Motueka hops add a bright, zesty lime finish. These tropical layers are unexpected but harmonious against a backdrop of lightly roasted coffee beans, which provide an earthy, nutty depth without overwhelming the hop-forward balance. Despite its sessionable 5% ABV, the beer maintains a crisp, dry character with a clean finish that highlights the interplay between exotic fruit and roasted complexity.

Appearance. Medium gold (7 SRM) with a slight, natural haze likely from coffee oils and heavy hopping. Pours with a medium-sized, white, creamy head that shows good persistence and leaves light lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring gooseberry, lime, and tropical fruit zest. This is complemented by a moderate, clean aroma of freshly ground light-roast coffee, offering nutty and slightly cocoa-like notes. Malt is low and grainy, while fermentation is clean with no significant esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and citrus from the NZ hops, specifically lime and white grape. A medium-high bitterness follows, supported by a low, neutral grainy malt sweetness. The coffee flavor is well-integrated, providing an earthy, savory counterpoint to the fruit. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering hoppy, resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the coffee. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a refreshing prickle on the tongue. No alcohol warmth is perceived, and there is no harshness or astringency from the coffee or hops.
