This Double IPA captures a vibrant, California-inspired character with an intense, hop-forward profile. El Dorado Cryo and Idaho 7 Cryo lead the sensory charge, delivering a saturated rush of tropical pineapple, stone fruit, and resinous pine. These are layered over the classic citrus bright notes of Citra and Amarillo, providing waves of grapefruit and orange zest. The neutral malt base remains unobtrusive, allowing the hops to dominate from the initial burst to the dry, lingering finish. Despite its 8% strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a clean fermentation profile and a firm, well-integrated bitterness that defines the style.
Appearance. Light gold to pale orange with a slight haze. Topped with a moderate-sized, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent tropical fruit like pineapple and mango, citrus grapefruit, and stone fruit apricot. A subtle resinous pine note is present, supported by a very low, neutral grainy malt character.
Taste. Explosive hop flavors of orange zest, pineapple, and apricot dominate the palate. The bitterness is high but smooth, avoiding harshness. The malt provides a soft, light bready support before transitioning into a very dry, hoppy finish with a lingering resinous and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth texture. Moderate carbonation provides a crisp lift, while a gentle, restrained alcohol warmth is noticeable but well-integrated.
