Overtone Brewing Co

Swerve City is an intense Double IPA that captures the driving energy of its namesake through a potent hop profile. An explosive aromatic display of passion fruit and strawberry from Strata and Strata CGX is layered over the zesty lime and grapefruit notes of Citra. A classic, resinous pine backbone from Chinook provides a grounding bitterness that balances the 8% ABV strength. The neutral malt base remains unobtrusive, allowing the hop-derived tropical and dank characters to dominate. This beer delivers a high-impact sensory experience, finishing lean and dry with a lingering, clean bitterness that highlights its modern West Coast-inspired roots.

Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange with a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.

Aroma. Intense hop-forward aroma dominated by tropical passion fruit, berry, and bright citrus. Secondary notes of resinous pine and a light, damp herbal quality. Low, clean, crackery malt support with a faint, smooth alcohol sweetness.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and citrus zest. A moderately high bitterness emerges quickly but remains smooth rather than harsh. The malt flavor is low and neutral, providing just enough structure to support the hop intensity. Finishes very dry with a long, lingering aftertaste of grapefruit peel and pine resin. Clean fermentation profile with minimal esters.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite that enhances the dry finish. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or hot.
