Overtone’s Silence Is... Citra is a quintessential American Pale Ale designed to highlight the namesake hop's versatility. It opens with an expressive bouquet of bright citrus and lush tropical fruit, underpinned by a delicate floral note. The Citra hops provide layers of mango and grapefruit that dominate the sensory experience while remaining smooth and approachable. A neutral, grainy malt backbone offers just enough support to balance the hop-forward profile without introducing heavy caramel. It finishes crisp and clean with a refreshing, lingering fruitiness, making it an exceptionally drinkable and balanced example of a modern, hop-focused pale ale.
Appearance. Pale golden (approx. 6 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. It supports a moderately large, frothy white head with excellent retention and persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by grapefruit, lime, and crushed pineapple from the Citra hops. Secondary aromas include subtle mango and a faint floral hint. Low, neutral grainy-sweet maltiness serves as a background with a clean fermentation profile and no esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy citrus and tropical fruit. The malt flavor is restrained, providing light bready, neutral support. Moderate bitterness provides structure but remains smooth rather than harsh. The finish is medium-dry and clean, with a lingering aftertaste of citrus zest and floral hops.
