Retro Storm presents as a saturated, contemporary Double IPA defined by a massive hop profile. The use of Citra in three formats—Incognito, Cryo, and pellet—delivers an explosive tropical core of mango and ruby grapefruit. This citrus foundation is layered with the signature dankness and intense passion fruit notes of Galaxy and Strata, creating a complex, multi-dimensional fruit experience. While the 8% ABV provides a structural warmth, the focus remains squarely on the hop saturation. It is a bold, hazy interpretation that balances lush fruitiness with a smooth, supporting malt backbone, finishing with a persistent, resinous hop character typical of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM); opaque, hazy appearance; thick, creamy, persistent white head with heavy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; dominant tropical fruit notes of mango, passion fruit, and melon; pungent citrus zest and grapefruit; underlying dank, herbal, and resinous complexity; very low, neutral grainy malt; clean fermentation with subtle fruity esters.
Taste. Intensely hoppy; immediate wave of passion fruit, tangerine, and ripe pineapple; mid-palate reveals a dank, herbal quality and resinous pine. Bitterness is firm but smooth, balancing the soft malt character. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering tropical and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture; moderate carbonation; noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth; no harsh hop astringency; creamy mouth-coating finish.
