Overtone Brewing Co

This luscious Double IPA delivers an intense tropical bouquet driven by a heavy-handed addition of Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, and Citra hops. The inclusion of Citra Cryo amplifies the resinous citrus impact, while Nelson Sauvin introduces sophisticated notes of white grape and fresh gooseberry. On the palate, a massive addition of oats and lactose creates a velvety, cloud-like texture, supporting vibrant flavors of passion fruit, sweet pineapple, and ripe peach. Despite the high ABV, the finish remains remarkably smooth, balancing hop intensity with a creamy, dessert-like mouthfeel that softens the firm bitterness characteristic of the style.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM). Persistent, creamy, dense white head with excellent lacing. Hazy to nearly opaque due to the high oat and lactose content.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of tropical fruits like passion fruit and pineapple alongside stone fruit peach. Distinctive Nelson Sauvin influence provides white grape and gooseberry notes. Background hints of resinous citrus from Citra Cryo. Malt is low and neutral, providing a soft, doughy backdrop.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of sweet tropical fruit followed by white grape and a subtle dankness. Malt flavor is low, characterized by a soft, bready oat quality and a milky sweetness from lactose. Bitterness is firm but rounded and not harsh. The finish is medium-sweet and lingering with persistent fruit flavors and a clean, warming alcohol presence.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creamy, velvety texture from the oats and lactose. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth. No hop-derived astringency; exceptionally smooth for the strength.
