This Double IPA delivers a complex sensory landscape driven by a heavy-handed application of Citra, Citra Incognito, Galaxy, Strata, and Enigma hops. The aroma and flavor profile is defined by a vivid fluctuation of sweet mandarin and tropical passion fruit, accented by the distinctive white wine notes of Enigma and a bright, berry-like raspberry edge from Strata. Herbal undertones provide a grounded complexity against the intense fruitiness. Despite its 8% strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a clean malt base and a smooth, firm bitterness that underscores the modern, hop-forward character typical of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-10 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a soft, modern haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of sweet mandarin citrus, crushed white grapes, and tropical passion fruit. Distinctive notes of ripe raspberries and a subtle herbal, resinous quality emerge, supported by a very low, clean, grainy malt background.
Taste. The palate opens with an intense burst of mandarin and passion fruit. Mid-palate reveals complex white wine and berry flavors from the Enigma and Strata hops. Malt flavor is low and neutral, providing a soft stage for the moderately high bitterness. It finishes dry and clean with a lingering, fruity, and slightly herbal hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but restrained, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
