This Hazy IPA, a collaboration between Outer Range and Cloudwater, showcases a masterful application of Southern Hemisphere hops. The combination of Motueka and Nelson Sauvin creates an intensely aromatic profile defined by lush honey melon and exotic persimmon fruit. It pours with a signature opaque glow and a dense, meringue-like head. The palate is exceptionally soft, emphasizing juicy tropical notes and a delicate white grape character over sharp bitterness. A subtle bready malt backbone supports the massive hop saturation, leading to a smooth, off-dry finish that exemplifies the modern, fruit-forward approach of both world-class breweries.
Appearance. Straw to pale gold with 4 SRM. Features a deep, opaque haze that provides a luminous shine. Topped by a thick, persistent, rocky white head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma dominated by sweet honey melon, ripe persimmon, and crushed white grape. Complementary notes of lime zest and tropical fruit are present. Malt character is low, providing a clean, bready background with no caramel or toast.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor featuring juicy persimmon and melon. Nelson Sauvin contributes a sophisticated white wine-like quality. The malt is low and grainy, supporting a low to medium-low bitterness that is masked by a soft, pillowy texture. Finishes smooth and off-dry with a lingering tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Displays a gentle alcohol warmth without any harshness, hop burn, or astringency.
