This Hazy IPA from Outer Range showcases a vibrant blend of Nelson, Columbus, and Barbe Rouge hops, delivering an expressive bouquet that bridges tropical and berry notes. Deep aromas of passion fruit driven by Nelson and zesty lemon zest from Columbus dominate the nose, while the unique strawberry character of Barbe Rouge adds a layered complexity. The appearance is classically hazy with a luminous straw hue and a persistent, rocky white head. On the palate, a soft, pillowy mouthfeel carries flavors of sun-ripened fruit, balanced by a restrained bitterness. Clean, bready malts provide a subtle foundation, ensuring a smooth, juicy finish.
Appearance. Color is straw to light gold (4-5 SRM) with a high degree of opacity and a luminous haze. Features a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, fresh strawberry, and bright lemon zest. Subtle background of clean, bready, and grainy malt; fermentation is neutral with light fruity esters that complement the hop profile.
Taste. Explosive hop flavors of tropical passion fruit and sweet strawberry, accented by a citrusy lemon zest finish. Low bready malt flavor provides a soft platform. Bitterness is moderate but perceived as low to medium due to the full body, leading to a smooth, off-dry finish with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and smooth texture. Carbonation is moderate. Very low alcohol warmth is appropriate for the strength, with absolutely no hop harshness or astringency.
