This West Coast Style American IPA presents a vibrant interplay between classic and modern hop profiles. Leveraging the distinct characteristics of Centennial and Nelson hops, the sensory journey begins with an assertive resinous pine and bright citrus zest. This transitions into a unique, nuanced fruitiness reminiscent of tart kumquat and lemon, characteristic of the hop blend. A lean malt backbone provides just enough structure to allow the hops to remain the focal point, finishing with a crisp, dry, and lingering bitterness that cleanses the palate. It is a refreshing, hop-forward tribute to the alpine spirit.
Appearance. Medium gold (7 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, persistent white head and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring resinous pine and floral notes from the Centennial hops, alongside the distinctive lemon and kumquat character of the Nelson variety. Low, clean, grainy maltiness supports the hops. Fermentation is clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Strong hop-forward impression with flavors of pine needle, citrus peel, and exotic kumquat. Bitterness is firm and assertive but smooth. Low, neutral malt flavor provides a cracker-like base. The finish is very dry and crisp with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high. A very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present, with no perceived astringency.
