This Double IPA radiates an intense hop-forward character, amplified by a double dry-hop addition of Azacca, Loral, and Strata. The sensory experience is dominated by a vibrant bouquet of tropical mango and pineapple from the Azacca, interwoven with the complex, multi-faceted notes of Strata that range from ripe strawberry to a subtle dankness. Loral adds a refined floral and peppery elegance that balances the fruit-heavy profile. Despite the robust 8.3% ABV, the beer maintains a clean, neutral malt backbone that allows the intricate hop oils to shine, finishing with a crisp, firm bitterness and a lingering tropical resonance typical of the style.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-9 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Though the style often leans clear, this double dry-hopped example displays a soft, characteristic haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of mango, passionfruit, and strawberry. A secondary layer of floral lavender and herbal spice is present, supported by a very low, neutral, grainy malt character. Fermentation is clean with no significant esters or phenols.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical stone fruit and citrus zest. High bitterness is firm and assertive but smooth, never harsh. Hop flavors of berry and pine dominate the mid-palate over a soft, unobtrusive malt base. The finish is medium-dry to dry, leaving a clean, lingering hoppy aftertaste without residual sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp mouthfeel. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable but remains smooth and supportive.
