Faceless Feather is an intensely saturated Double IPA that bridges the Rockies and the Alps with an explosive hop profile. Dominated by Citra, Motueka, and El Dorado, the sensory experience is a deluge of overripe pineapple, zesty lime, and candied stone fruit. Despite its 10.1% ABV, the beer remains remarkably nimble, balancing a soft, supportive malt base with a firm but smooth bitterness. Aromas of tropical fruit salad and resinous pine lead into a palate brimming with mango and bright citrus oil, finishing dry with a warming, sophisticated glow that highlights the synergy between these international brewing powerhouses.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (8-10 SRM) with a luminous, persistent haze. Features a moderate-sized, creamy white head that exhibits excellent retention and dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of lime zest, pineapple, and mango from the Citra, Motueka, and El Dorado hops. A background of clean, grainy malt supports secondary notes of pear and resinous pine. Fermentation is clean with very light fruity esters and a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and citrus oil. Flavors of crushed lime and sweet stone fruit are balanced by a moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. A low, clean, soft malt character provides a foundation without adding sweetness. The finish is medium-dry and crisp, leaving a lingering hoppy aftertaste of grapefruit and resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively lift that offsets the beer's density. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
