Mountain Drips is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop profile. Intensely aromatic, it leads with a bouquet of white grape and tropical lychee, driven by the expressive Nelson hops. These notes are gracefully layered with the delicate floral perfume of orange blossom and a bright citrus lift from Motueka. Cascade provides a foundational grapefruit and floral backbone that grounds the more exotic fruit characters. The sensory experience is defined by these intense New World hop notes set against a clean, neutral malt canvas. Despite its strength, the finish remains remarkably dry, emphasizing a firm but smooth bitterness.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (7–9 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent white head that leaves intricate lacing. Modern clarity is mostly clear with a very slight, acceptable haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent white grape, crushed gooseberry, and tropical lychee. Distinctive floral undertones reminiscent of orange blossom are complemented by hints of lime and grapefruit. Low, neutral grainy malt character in the background with a clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Strong hop-forward impression of white grape and tropical fruit. The bitterness is firm and assertive (approx. 70 IBU context) but lacks harshness, supporting layers of lychee and citrus. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, providing a soft, crackery foundation. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, clean hoppy aftertaste and a faint, smooth alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively mouth-filling sensation. Alcohol warmth is restrained and well-integrated at 7.7% ABV. No hop-derived astringency.
