Ticker Shock is a saturated Double IPA that exemplifies the juice bomb aesthetic through a heavy-handed application of Citra, Citra Incognito, Strata, Nelson Sauvin, and Mosaic. This aromatic powerhouse leads with an intense wave of passion fruit, crushed gooseberry, and vibrant grapefruit zest. The palate follows suit, layering sweet melon and resinous pine over a lean, supportive malt base that ensures the hop complexity remains the focal point. Despite its strength, the beer maintains high drinkability with a soft, rounded bitterness and a clean finish, leaving a lingering impression of tropical fruit and dank herbs.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). It features a persistent, dense white head with excellent lacing. While the base style allows for clarity, this modern iteration presents a hazy, opaque appearance.
Aroma. Intense, pungent hop aroma dominates. High notes of tropical mango and passion fruit are complemented by the distinct white wine and gooseberry character of Nelson Sauvin. Citra provides a bright citrus backbone of lime and grapefruit. Malt is low and neutral, providing a faint crackery base.
Taste. Massive hop-forward entry featuring layers of citrus oil, tropical berries, and stone fruit. Bitterness is firm but smooth, balancing the subtle malt sweetness. Nelson Sauvin contributes a sophisticated vinous edge. The finish is medium-dry and remarkably clean, with a long-lasting aftertaste of resinous hops and citrus peel.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but never solventy. No noticeable astringency despite the high hop load.
