This Double IPA is a vibrant sensory showcase of modern hop science, highlighting a saturated profile driven by Citra, Citra Cryo, and an experimental Citra product. A bright tropical punch of pineapple and mango from El Dorado leads the initial impression, followed by deeper, sophisticated layers of red currant and melon contributed by Enigma. The massive Citra presence ensures a citrus-forward core of grapefruit and lime zest, while Tomahawk Cryo adds a structural resinous, dank backbone. At 8.4% ABV, the beer remains remarkably lean and drinkable, finishing with a crisp, lingering bitterness and a soft, clean malt foundation that never feels heavy.
Appearance.Deep gold to light orange (SRM 7-9) with a slight haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma.Intense hop aroma with a complex profile of citrus, pineapple, passion fruit, and resinous pine. Hints of stone fruit and berry are present, supported by a very low, clean, grainy malt character and a neutral fermentation profile.
Taste.Strong and complex hop flavors of grapefruit, tropical mango, and dank earthiness. Moderately high bitterness that is firm but clean and lacking harshness. The malt is soft and supportive with a bready quality. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
