Imperial IPA 8 º
This Double IPA is a sensory showcase of modern hop complexity, driven by a punchy combination of Citra, Motueka, Riwaka, and Talus. The aroma is dominated by Citra’s bright lime and Motueka’s tropical mojito-like zest, while Riwaka provides a deep, pungent passionfruit depth. Talus rounds out the profile with distinctive notes of pink grapefruit and subtle dried rose petals. Despite the evocative name, the palate is focused on intense hop resin and fruit, supported by a lean, neutral malt backbone. It delivers a firm but smooth bitterness, finishing dry and clean with a lingering citrus oil aftertaste.
Appearance. Pale gold (7 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. Features a large, persistent white head with excellent lacing and dense bubble structure.
Aroma. Intensity is high, featuring a complex blend of lime zest, crushed passionfruit, and grapefruit hops. A subtle floral and herbal-pine note is present, backed by a very low, neutral grainy malt character and clean fermentation.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of tropical fruit, citrus peel, and resin. Initial impression is fruity and bright, leading to a moderately high, firm bitterness that is smooth rather than harsh. Low supportive malt character allows for a dry, clean finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate-high carbonation provides a crisp bite. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any hop-derived astringency.
