Dollar Slice is a quintessential Hazy IPA that prioritizes a lush, saturated hop experience. The combination of Citra and Galaxy hops delivers an intense burst of passion fruit, peach, and bright citrus zest against a soft, cloud-like backdrop. Utilizing a grist of 2-row, wheat, and two varieties of oats, the beer achieves a remarkably smooth and substantial texture that carries the tropical fruit flavors across the palate. This grain bill provides a neutral, bready foundation that allows the vibrant, juicy hop profile to remain the focal point, resulting in a balanced yet intensely aromatic profile that epitomizes the modern New England style.
Appearance. Luminous pale gold to deep straw (approximately 5 SRM) with a dense, opaque haze that creates a characteristic shine. It is topped by a persistent, rocky, white meringue-like head with excellent retention and lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of tropical and stone fruits; prominent notes of passion fruit, mango, and peach driven by the dry-hopping. A supportive, neutral bready malt aroma provides a subtle foundation, while a light ester profile complements the hop-derived fruitiness without any distracting herbal or grassy notes.
Taste. Immediate impact of juicy tropical fruit—specifically passion fruit, guava, and sweet citrus zest. The malt provides a soft, grainy sweetness that balances the hop intensity. Bitterness is restrained and smooth, lacking any harshness or resinous bite. The finish is plush and off-dry, lingering with a pleasant fruit-skin character and a clean fermentation profile.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably soft, pillowy mouthfeel attributed to the heavy use of wheat and oats. Carbonation is moderate, enhancing the juice perception. A very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present but never distracting or hot.
