Big Nelson Vibes delivers an immersive sensory experience defined by its namesake Nelson Sauvin and Nelson Cryo hops. This American IPA radiates an intense bouquet of white wine grapes, tart gooseberry, and crushed passionfruit. The grist, featuring 2-row and Pale malted barley, provides a lean, grainy foundation that lets the hops shine. However, it is the massive inclusion of malted and flaked oats that transforms the profile, yielding a remarkably creamy and smooth finish that cushions the hop bitterness. The result is a vibrant, fruit-forward ale where the distinctive New Zealand hop character is perfectly harmonized with a soft, plush mouthfeel.
Appearance. Light gold (approx. 6 SRM) with a thick, frothy white head and high persistence. Significant haze is present due to the heavy use of malted and flaked oats.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma dominated by gooseberry, white-wine grapes, and passionfruit. A low, clean, grainy malt character from 2-row and Pale malted barley supports the hops. Fermentation is clean with very low esters.
Taste. Bold hop flavors of white grapes and tropical fruit. Low grainy-sweet maltiness from the 2-row and Pale malted barley. Bitterness is medium-high but softened by the oat additions. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, smooth hop oils and fruit character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a distinctively creamy and silky texture from malted and flaked oats. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol warmth is low and well-integrated.
