This collaboration Double IPA is a massive sensory experience, driven by an epic hop bill of Citra, Galaxy, Strata, and Nelson Sauvin. At 13% ABV, it presents a concentrated burst of tropical passionfruit, zesty citrus, and pungent white grape. The aroma is saturated with resinous pine and ripe melon, leading into a dense, velvety palate. Despite its significant strength, the bitterness remains firm but polished, balancing a subtle honeyed malt sweetness. It concludes with a warm, lingering finish of lime zest and crushed berries, epitomizing the intense, fruit-forward profile characteristic of these modern brewing masters.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (8-11 SRM). Persistent, creamy, off-white head with dense lacing. Features a noticeable haze typical of modern interpretations.
Aroma. Intense intensity. High notes of passionfruit and peach from Galaxy and Strata, complemented by the lime and grapefruit punch of Citra. Nelson Sauvin adds a distinct crushed white grape and gooseberry layer. Background malt is neutral and light, with a faint doughy sweetness. Clean alcohol warmth is present without being solventy.
Taste. Initial impact of mango, pineapple, and citrus peel. Moderately high bitterness provides a firm backbone against the high gravity, avoiding harshness. Flavor follows aroma with distinct vinous notes and berry-like complexity. Malt is supportive and soft. The finish is medium-dry with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and smooth with a velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. Significant but well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable. Very low hop-derived astringency despite the massive hop load.
