This Double IPA showcases the vibrant, punchy character of Riwaka hops, delivering intense waves of pink grapefruit zest and succulent passion fruit. The aromatics are aggressive yet inviting, supported by a specialized grain bill featuring wheat and oats which imparts a remarkably soft, pillowy texture. Despite its robust 8.5% ABV, the profile remains dangerously drinkable, balancing a firm bitterness with a clean, dry finish characteristic of the style. The interplay between the tropical intensity of the New Zealand hops and the creamy mouthfeel creates a refined, sensory-forward experience that highlights the brewery’s mastery of modern, hop-saturated ales.

Appearance. SRM 5-7. Hazy, pale gold to light orange. Large, persistent, creamy white head with dense lacing.

Aroma. High intensity. Pungent Riwaka hop notes dominate, offering grapefruit, passion fruit, and light resinous notes. Low, clean, bready malt in the background. Neutral fermentation profile with subtle, clean alcohol sweetness.

Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of grapefruit pith and tropical passion fruit flavors. Moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. The malt character is low and unobtrusive, resembling soft bread and raw grain from the wheat and oats. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy aftertaste of citrus rind.
