Enchanted is a modern, elevated take on an Ordinary Bitter, bridging the gap between traditional British brewing and contemporary Southern Hemisphere hop profiles. This collaboration with Oakham Ales results in a remarkably smooth character, driven by a clean house yeast that allows the hops to shine. Vibrant additions of Nelson Sauvin and Galaxy contribute layers of white wine grapes, tart berries, and succulent peach, alongside a tropical rush of passion fruit. Despite its higher strength, it maintains the approachable, bready malt backbone and firm bitterness characteristic of the style, finishing dry, clean, and incredibly refreshing.
Appearance. Pale amber to light copper (approximately 10-12 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate, off-white head that shows good retention and leaves light lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity hop aroma featuring notes of gooseberry, white wine, and passion fruit from the Nelson Sauvin and Galaxy. Supported by a low to moderate malt presence of bread crust and light biscuit, with subtle berry esters from the house yeast.
Taste. Initial impression is a firm hop bitterness followed by a moderately low bready and biscuity malt profile. High hop flavor mirroring the aroma with peach, passion fruit, and vinous qualities. Fermentation is clean with light fruit esters. The balance is decidedly bitter and hop-forward, leading to a dry and crisp finish with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, well-integrated texture. Carbonation is moderate. Displays a very light alcohol warmth consistent with its 5% ABV, but remains highly drinkable without astringency.
