Oso Brew Co Mad For It
This massive Double IPA, crafted in collaboration with Track Brewing Co, presents an intensely dank and resinous sensory profile. The strategic use of Columbus and Citra Cryo hops delivers powerful, layered aromas of pungent pine, zesty citrus, and ripe stone fruit. The Verdant yeast strain contributes a subtle, fruity ester profile that complements the hop-forward intensity. While the malt backbone is substantial enough to support the high alcohol content, it remains clean and unobtrusive, allowing the aggressive hop character to lead. A thick, full-bodied texture provides a velvety mouthfeel, concluding with a lingering resinous bitterness and a smooth, integrated alcohol warmth.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM) with a persistent, dense, off-white head that leaves significant lacing. Exhibits a modern haze rather than brilliance, typical of heavy dry-hopping and specific yeast selection.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by dank, resinous Columbus notes and vibrant tropical/citrus bursts from Citra Cryo, including grapefruit and nectarine. Low, clean, bready malt in the background with moderate fruity esters of peach and apricot from the fermentation profile.
Taste. An initial explosion of resinous pine and tropical fruit flavors follows the aroma. Malt flavor is low to medium, providing a soft, grainy support without significant caramel sweetness. Bitterness is high and firm, yet smooth rather than harsh. The finish is medium-dry with a long, lingering hop-derived bitterness and a touch of clean alcohol.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notably thick, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no significant hop-derived astringency despite the high hopping rate.
