Oso Brew Co's Americana is a quintessential American IPA that pays homage to the West Coast tradition. The sensory profile is defined by an assertive hop presence, featuring a pungent blend of Columbus, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. These varieties deliver a layered experience of resinous pine, sharp grapefruit, and a subtle tropical berry undertone. A lean, grainy malt backbone allows the hops to remain the primary focus, while the fermentation is exceptionally clean. This medium-light-bodied ale concludes with a sharp, lingering bitterness and a crisp, dry finish that emphasizes its refreshing and hop-forward character.
Appearance. Medium gold to light amber in color (8 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High hop intensity featuring prominent resinous pine, dank earthiness, and bright citrus peel. Low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness supports the hop-forward profile. Neutral fermentation character with no significant yeast-derived esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a sharp, clean hop bitterness. Intense hop flavors of pine needles and citrus pith from the Columbus and Simcoe are balanced by a hint of tropical fruit from the Mosaic. Malt flavor is low and cracker-like. The finish is very dry with a long-lasting, firm, and hoppy aftertaste. Bitterness is high and assertive but remains clean and never harsh.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Medium-high carbonation provides a lively bite on the tongue. Very light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
