Bruma Roja presents a bold sensory dialogue between a rich, mahogany-hued malt base and a heavy-handed hop addition. This Red IPA opens with a vibrant bouquet of citric zest and sticky pine resin, supported by deeper layers of toffee and subtle dark fruit. The palate mirrors this complexity, beginning with a brief caramel sweetness that is quickly overtaken by a firm, resinous bitterness. Subtle toasted notes linger in the background, adding depth without harshness. Smooth and medium-bodied, it balances its 6.3% ABV with a clean, dry finish that emphasizes the refreshing, citrus-forward character of the New World hops.
Appearance. Deep amber to reddish-copper (14-17 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a dense, light tan head that shows excellent retention and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma characterized by grapefruit zest, orange peel, and pungent pine resin. The malt presence is moderate, offering distinct notes of caramel and toffee with a whisper of dried dark fruits and toasted bread. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression of caramel and toffee sweetness quickly transitions into a dominant hop-forward profile of citrus and resin. Bitterness is firm and persistent, cutting through the malt richness. Subtle flavors of plum and raisin emerge mid-palate. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering resinous and slightly toasted aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harshness or astringency.
