The Clau Revolution elevates the classic Irish Red Ale style into a more robust, 7% ABV experience. Visually, it pours a crystalline reddish-copper with a persistent off-white head. The sensory journey begins with an inviting aroma of rich caramel and toasted malts, followed by a faint, earthy hop whisper. The palate is characterized by an initial toffee sweetness and a smooth, grainy depth, balanced by the style’s signature touch of roasted grain dryness in the finish. Despite its strength, the bitterness remains low, allowing the malt-forward profile and gentle alcohol warmth to lead a clean and comforting finish.
Appearance. Medium reddish-copper color (approximately 13 SRM) with brilliant, crystalline clarity. Forms a low, off-white to tan head with average persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. Moderate malt intensity featuring prominent notes of caramel, toffee, and lightly toasted bread. Very low earthy hop aroma. Clean fermentation profile with minimal yeast esters.
Taste. Initial impression of soft caramel malt sweetness and toffee. The mid-palate is fairly neutral and grainy with a light biscuity quality. Low hop bitterness (approx 20 IBU) that allows the malt to lead. Finishes medium-dry with a characteristic hint of roasted grain dryness. Clean and smooth aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Features a noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth that exceeds traditional session-strength examples.
