This celebratory Double IPA commemorates eight years of orca brau with a bold, Single Malt and Single Hop profile. Built on a clean, neutral foundation of American Ale and Pale Ale malt, the sensory focus remains squarely on the Krush hops. Intense layers of tropical fruit—notably mango and guava—meld with bright citrus, stone fruit, and a hint of herbal complexity. At 8.2% ABV, it maintains high drinkability through a dry finish, balancing its formidable bitterness with a lean body that emphasizes the hop saturation. It is a vibrant, modern showcase of the Krush variety's singular aromatic intensity and punchy bitterness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber in color (8-10 SRM) with a slight, inviting haze. Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruits like mango and passion fruit, alongside stone fruit and grapefruit citrus. Background malt is clean, neutral, and slightly grainy with a hint of toasted bread. Fermentation is clean with a very low fruity ester profile and a subtle, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. An immediate explosion of tropical and citrus hop flavors, reflecting the Krush hop's stone fruit and resinous character. Malt flavors are low, providing a clean, unobtrusive support of light grain. Bitterness is firm and high but lacks harshness, leading into a dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is long and hop-forward, featuring lingering fruit resins and a clean, refreshing bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy, and there is no hop-derived astringency.
