This opulent Imperial Stout offers a multifaceted sensory journey, beginning with a dense, opaque presence and a dark tan head. The aroma is dominated by a sophisticated interplay of floral jasmine and herbal lavender, layered over deep-seated notes of roasted coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Sun-dried fig contributes a jammy, dark fruit depth, while honey lends a subtle, floral sweetness that rounds out the intense roasted character. On the palate, the 10% ABV provides a smooth, integrated warmth. The mouthfeel is remarkably full and velvety, concluding with a harmonious balance of malt richness and firm bitterness in this complex winter seasonal.
Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40 SRM). Pours with a thick, creamy, deep tan head that shows moderate retention. High viscosity is apparent in the glass with visible legs when swirled.
Aroma. High intensity and complex. Dominant roasted notes of coffee and dark chocolate are elevated by floral jasmine and herbal lavender. Distinctive dark fruit esters of fig and raisin are present, supported by a light honey sweetness. Very low earthy hop aroma.
Taste. Intense flavors of roasted grain, bittersweet chocolate, and espresso lead the profile. Mid-palate reveals sun-dried fig and a delicate floral lift from jasmine and lavender. Honey provides a smooth, supportive sweetness against a firm bitterness. The finish is long and warming with lingering notes of dark cocoa and dried herbs.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harsh solvent qualities.
