The nose is greeted by complex layers of wet hay, leather, and earthy barnyard notes, underpinned by a subtle stone fruit brightness. On the palate, the Widow Jane barrels contribute toasted oak and a whisper of vanilla, which melds seamlessly with the high attenuation and bone-dry finish characteristic of Brettanomyces. It is a nuanced, medium-bodied ale where time has smoothed the edges into a graceful, funky complexity.
Appearance. Deep gold to amber (7–12 SRM), clear to slightly hazy, with a moderate white head and fair retention.
Aroma. High intensity funk with barnyard, wet hay, and leather notes; secondary stone fruit and citrus esters; prominent toasted oak and vanilla from the Widow Jane barrels.
Taste. Bone-dry with lean, cracker-like malt; assertive earthy funk and leathery Brett character; notable oak tannins and vanilla; low bitterness with a crisp, lingering funky finish.
