OneTwo 16 - Amarillo IPA
This Hazy IPA showcases the distinct citrus and floral profile of Amarillo hops. It pours with a characteristically opaque, glowing appearance and a dense, meringue-like head. The nose is greeted with intense aromas of sweet orange zest and fresh lemon, underscored by delicate floral notes and a background of soft, bready malt. On the palate, the experience is notably juicy, delivering a wave of ripe stone fruit and citrus flavors that transition into a smooth, medium-full body. The finish is characterized by a refined, soft piney bitterness that balances the off-dry malt core without lingering harshly, maintaining high drinkability and a clean hop-forward character.
Appearance. Straw to light amber (4–6 SRM) with a significant, opaque haze that gives the beer a luminous glow. Topped by a medium-large, rocky white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by sweet orange, grapefruit, and floral Amarillo notes. Underlying scents of bready, grainy malt are present but secondary. Fermentation is clean with subtle fruity esters that complement the hop profile.
Taste. High hop flavor featuring prominent citrus zest and floral notes typical of Amarillo. Low to medium-low bready malt flavor provides a soft foundation. Bitterness is medium-low and perceived as soft rather than sharp, leading to an off-dry finish with a lingering, gentle piney aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, soft texture and no harshness. Carbonation is moderate. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 6% ABV.
