This Double IPA, a collaboration with Vermont's Mount Holly, emphasizes a soft water profile and the vibrant essence of New Zealand hops. It offers an intense sensory experience characterized by bright notes of passionfruit, zesty lime, and white grape. The 8% ABV is seamlessly integrated into a medium body that mimics the rolling green hills of the American Northeast. A clean fermentation allows the hop-derived tropical and citrus character to lead, supported by a subtle, bready malt foundation. The finish is dry and crisp, with a firm yet smooth bitterness that invites another sip, showcasing modern hop-forward elegance.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (SRM 6-8); features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing; hazy, consistent with the Vermont-inspired style.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring passionfruit, gooseberry, and lime zest from New Zealand hops. Background notes of neutral, grainy malt with a clean, lightly fruity fermentation profile and no solventy alcohol.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of tropical fruit and bright citrus. Bitterness is firm but smooth and well-integrated. Low, clean, supportive malt character with a hint of breadiness. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, fruity, and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture; moderate carbonation. Alcohol warmth is restrained and smooth, lacking any harsh hop-derived astringency.
