One Drop Brewing Co

This Imperial Stout, a collaboration between One Drop Brewing Co and Poland's Browar PINTA, is a decadent, chocolate-forward masterpiece. An intensive eight-hour boil and a complex nine-grain double-mash create an incredibly viscous foundation that supports layers of cocoa beans, nibs, husks, and cocoa powder. The sensory profile is dominated by an immersive dark chocolate experience, providing a rich, fudgy depth. Subtle hints of dark fruit like raisins and plums emerge from the intricate grain bill, while the extended boil contributes deep caramelization. It is a robust, velvety stout that harmonizes intense roasted bitterness with a lingering, luxurious sweetness and a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, dense, dark tan head that exhibits moderate retention and leaves significant oily legs on the glass, indicating high viscosity.

Aroma. High intensity and deeply complex. Dominant notes of bittersweet chocolate and Dutch-process cocoa are at the forefront. Secondary aromas include roasted coffee, black licorice, and burnt grain, complemented by moderate esters of dried figs and prunes. A clean, warming alcohol presence is noticeable but well-integrated.

Taste. The initial impression is an explosion of dark chocolate and fudge. The nine-grain mash provides a sturdy backdrop of toasted bread and dark caramel. The mid-palate reveals a firm roast-driven bitterness that counters the high residual sweetness. Deep, earthy flavors of cocoa beans and nibs persist through the palate, leading to a complex finish of dark fruit and a lingering, bittersweet aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied, chewy, and exceptionally viscous with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low, enhancing the creamy and coating mouth-coating quality. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is present and pleasant, without any sharp or solventy edges.
