This ultra-modern Double IPA is a concentrated sensory explosion, leveraging Liquid Phantasm and thiol-active yeast to unlock intense tropical depths. The aroma is dominated by a hyper-charged bouquet of passionfruit, guava, and lime zest, driven by fresh Motueka and Nelson SubZero Hop Kief. Layers of red berries and candy-like sweetness from NZ Superdelic hops emerge on the palate, supported by the signature white grape character of Nelson and "Super-Sauvin" components. Despite its potent hop saturation and 8.1% ABV, the beer maintains a clean, lean malt profile and a firm bitterness, finishing remarkably dry with a lingering, resinous fruit intensity.
Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (6-8 SRM). Modern haze is present due to the massive hopping rate and thiol-active yeast. Topped by a persistent, dense white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Intensely tropical with dominant notes of passionfruit, guava, and grapefruit. Bright lime and crushed gooseberry are prominent, alongside candy-like red fruit and a hint of resinous pine. Malt is low, providing a neutral, grainy backdrop.
Taste. Immediate impact of tropical fruit nectar—passionfruit and Sauvignon Blanc grape. Mid-palate reveals zesty lime and sweet berry notes. Bitterness is firm and clean, balanced against a soft malt backbone. The finish is very dry and crisp, with a long-lasting aftertaste of hop resins and citrus peel.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the heavy hop load. Moderate-high carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth. No harsh hop-derived astringency.
