This Double IPA erupts with a complex, modern hop profile driven by an intensive double dry-hopping process. High-impact Citra Dynaboost leads the charge with punchy citrus, while Southern Cross, Rakau, and Wai-iti contribute layers of lime zest, stone fruit, and tropical resin. Hand-selected Nelson Sauvin adds a sophisticated white wine and gooseberry finish. The base of New Zealand malted barley, bolstered by oats and rolled spelt, provides a velvety, supportive structure that balances the assertive bitterness. It is a powerful yet clean expression of Southern Hemisphere hops, finishing dry with a lingering, resinous fruit character and smooth, integrated strength.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing. Exhibits a slight, attractive haze consistent with heavy dry-hopping and the use of protein-rich oats and spelt.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring prominent notes of passionfruit, crushed gooseberry, and lime. Secondary notes of apricot and grapefruit are supported by a clean, neutral, and slightly grainy malt backbone. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters or solventy alcohol.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of tropical fruit, citrus, and resin dominate the palate. Bitterness is moderately high and firm but remains smooth without harshness. The malt character is soft and unobtrusive, providing a clean, grainy platform. It finishes dry with a long, lingering hop-derived bitterness and fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth, creamy texture derived from the oats and spelt additions. Carbonation is moderate-high. A restrained, clean alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
