This Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer presents a vibrant sensory profile driven by fresh, piquant ginger and zesty lime. A light, crackery malt base provides a clean canvas for the high-intensity aroma of freshly grated ginger root and bright citrus oils. On the palate, the initial ginger snap is complemented by a refreshing lime acidity and a subtle, well-integrated chilli warmth that builds gently in the finish. Despite the bold additions, it maintains the character of a sessionable ale, balancing spicy heat with a crisp, dry exit and high drinkability characteristic of the One Drop house style.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (SRM 3-5). Moderate white head with fair retention and light lacing. Slight particulate haze is present from the addition of real ginger and lime juice.
Aroma. High intensity of fresh ginger root, exhibiting both earthy and spicy notes. Moderate aromas of lime zest and citrus oil are prominent. Very low clean malt sweetness; no hop aroma or fermentation esters are present, allowing the adjuncts to dominate.
Taste. Dominant flavor of spicy ginger, ranging from earthy root to spicy snap. The mid-palate introduces a sharp, refreshing lime juice tartness. A low but noticeable chilli prickle provides a unique warmth. Bitterness is low, serving only to balance the minimal malt. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering ginger-chilli heat.
Mouthfeel. Light body with a crisp, refreshing texture. High carbonation provides a lively, scrubbing effervescence. A subtle, tingling astringency from the ginger and a mild capsaicin warmth are present without being harsh.
