Today, the export beer of Brouwerij Omer Vander Ghinste bears the name BLUE, because this was the color of the clothing that the workers wore to work.
It is still offered in 33cl bottles, but now has the same alcohol percentage as the lager. (5.2% vol.)
BLUE is brewed exclusively with natural raw materials: water, maize, malted barley, hops and yeast. BLUE has a limited shelf life (9 months) without the addition of preservatives, so the beer is preferably drunk as fresh as possible.

BLAUW is een export bier, een biertype van lage gisting dat in de jaren 50 heel populair was.
In die tijd was zware handenarbeid erg belangrijk en dronken de arbeiders regelmatig bier.
Export had in die tijd een lager alcoholpercentage dan de gewone pils en het werd ook steeds in 33cl aangeboden. Op die manier konden zij meer bier drinken, zonder dat hun arbeidsprestaties daaronder moesten lijden.
Vandaag draagt het export bier van Brouwerij Omer Vander Ghinste de naam BLAUW, omdat dit de kleur was van de kledij die de arbeiders aanhadden om te werken.
Het wordt nog steeds aangeboden in flesjes van 33cl, maar heeft nu wel hetzelfde alcoholpercentage als de pils. (5,2% vol.)
BLAUW wordt uitsluitend gebrouwen met natuurlijke grondstoffen: water, maïs, gerstemout, hop en gist. Zonder toevoeging van bewaarmiddelen is BLAUW daarom beperkt houdbaar (9 maanden) wordt het bier liefst zo vers mogelijk gedronken.
Dit bier heeft zijn eigen mooi glas, alhoewel de echte BLAUW drinkers het drinken uit de fles verkiezen.

BLUE is brewed exclusively with natural raw materials: water, corn, barley malt, hops and yeast.
Without the addition of preservatives, BLAUW therefore has a limited shelf life (6 months) and is preferably consumed as fresh as possible. This beer has its own beautiful glass, although the real BLUE drinkers prefer to drink from the bottle.
