Storebror is a lush, velvety Double IPA that showcases a modern, fruit-forward hop profile. The use of Mosaic and El Dorado hops creates an intense sensory experience defined by ripe honeydew melon and sweet stone fruit, while Citra Cryo amplifies the aromatic punch with concentrated citrus brightness. At 8% ABV, the beer carries a substantial presence but remains remarkably smooth, leaning into a softer, sweeter profile than traditional examples. The interplay between the high residual sweetness and a restrained, moderate bitterness allows the tropical and orchard fruit notes to linger, delivering a decadent intensity within a balanced strong ale framework.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (6–10 SRM) with a slight, modern haze. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, creamy off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by ripe honeydew melon, peach, and mango. Underlying notes of citrus zest and floral pine. A supportive, clean, neutral to slightly honey-like maltiness sits in the background with a very light, clean alcohol note.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of sweet tropical fruit, specifically melon and apricot. Soft, bready malt character supports a high residual sweetness. The hop bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, intended to balance the sweet fruit flavors rather than dominate them. The finish is lingering and fruity with a smooth, clean aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable velvety, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Alcohol presence is noticeable as a smooth, restrained warmth without any harshness or solvent character.
