This Imperial American Brown Ale presents a bold sensory tapestry, elevated by extensive bourbon barrel aging. A rich backbone of chocolate and caramel malts melds with the creamy texture of wheat malt, while German hops introduce a distinct peppery spice. The aroma is saturated with vanilla, toasted oak, and a warm bourbon spirit, complementing the robust 8.5% ABV. Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (SRM 30-35) with excellent clarity. It supports a moderate, tan-colored head with good retention and light lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity featuring rich caramel, toasted nuts, and chocolate. Pronounced bourbon-barrel notes of vanilla, oak, and a hint of coconut are present. Low spicy and floral hop character from the German hops blends with subtle dark fruit esters.
Taste. Initial malty richness with flavors of dark chocolate, caramel, and toasted bread. Medium-high bitterness is balanced by the malt density and bourbon sweetness. The German hops provide a spicy mid-palate counterpoint. The finish is lingering and warm, showing dry oak tannins and a clean spirit character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a creamy, smooth texture derived from wheat malt. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh astringency.
