Illusions presents a vibrant, sensory-driven take on the Hazy IPA, highlighting a sophisticated double dry-hopping of Australian Galaxy and Enigma hops. It leads with a powerful aroma of dank pine and sun-ripened melon, supported by the signature rich berry and subtle tropical fruit notes characteristic of these Southern Hemisphere varieties. At 7.2% ABV, the beer maintains a lush, velvety presence on the palate without sacrificing drinkability. The malt profile remains understated and bready, allowing the complex hop oils to dominate with a soft, juicy profile and a restrained bitterness that ensures a smooth, lingering finish perfect for outdoor contemplation.
Appearance. A glowing pale gold (4 SRM) with an opaque, uniform haze that creates a luminous shine. It features a dense, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick, persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of resinous dank pine and ripe melon. Distinctive notes of red currants and raspberries from the Enigma hops mingle with the passion fruit and citrus zest of Galaxy. A clean, neutral, grainy malt backbone provides a soft base, while fruity fermentation esters support the tropical hop character.
Taste. An immediate explosion of fruity hop flavors, ranging from sweet cantaloupe and stone fruit to deep berry and subtle tropical notes. The hop bitterness is low-to-moderate but firm enough to provide balance, avoiding any harshness. The malt flavor is bready and light, while the finish is soft and off-dry, showcasing a lingering berry and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a noticeably soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate, contributing to a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 7.2% ABV, but the beer remains highly drinkable with no astringency.
