ODU Brewery PRO STRATA
This Double IPA showcases a vibrant hop profile driven by Pro Strata, Lupocitra, Amarillo, and BRU-1. The sensory experience is defined by intense hop saturation, leading with pungent aromas of passion fruit, grapefruit, and resinous pine. Pro Strata provides a distinctively dank and tropical depth, while Lupocitra and Amarillo contribute layers of zesty citrus and stone fruit. The addition of BRU-1 introduces a sweet pineapple character. The profile is supported by a lean, neutral malt base that ensures a clean, dry finish. Despite its strength, the beer emphasizes drinkability with a firm but smooth bitterness that lingers pleasantly on the palate.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7–10 SRM). Good clarity with a slight haze from the double dry-hopping. Moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and grapefruit zest. Secondary notes of resinous pine and dank herbs. Supportive, clean, neutral graininess in the background. Clean fermentation profile with very light fruity esters.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of tropical fruit, citrus, and stone fruit dominate. Moderately high bitterness that is firm but clean and lacks harshness. Low, soft, neutral malt character provides a background for the hop oils. Very dry finish with a long, hoppy, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, oily texture from hop resins. Moderate carbonation. Restrained, smooth alcohol warmth and no hop-derived astringency.
