Oceánica White IPA is a refreshing fusion of styles, marrying the assertive hop character of an American IPA with the delicate, spicy complexity of a Belgian Witbier. A soft, bready malt foundation derived from wheat supports vibrant hop aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. Fermentation with a Belgian yeast strain introduces elegant orange peel esters and a subtle clove-like phenolic spice. At 5.8% ABV, this pale, hazy ale features a lively carbonation that accentuates its dry finish and firm bitterness. It is a crisp, aromatic Specialty IPA that balances zestiness with a clean, lingering hop presence.
Appearance. Pale to deep gold (5-8 SRM). Hazy with a notable cloudiness from wheat proteins and yeast. Large, dense, white head with excellent persistence and thick lacing.
Aroma. High hop aroma with prominent citrusy, grapefruit, and tropical fruit notes. Moderate yeast esters of orange and light banana, complemented by low to moderate spicy phenols resembling clove or coriander. Low bready, wheaty malt character in the background.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrusy hops and peppery yeast. Low bready malt flavor provides a light platform for high hop bitterness. Hop flavors of grapefruit and resin are prominent. Yeast-derived citrus esters and spicy phenols add complexity. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering but clean bitterness and a refreshing wheaty tang.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture from the wheat. High carbonation creates a lively, effervescent mouthfeel. No significant alcohol warmth; no astringency.
