These notes are bolstered by the resinous pine and ripe apricot undertones provided by Idaho 7. On the palate, this American IPA delivers a firm, clean bitterness that balances a lean, grainy malt base. The finish is crisp and dry, leaving a lingering trail of tropical citrus and a hint of herbal dankness. At 6.6% ABV, it offers a refreshing yet assertive profile that highlights modern hop complexity within a classic framework.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (6-8 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a medium-sized, white, long-lasting head that leaves consistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of passionfruit, mango, and zesty grapefruit. A resinous pine and slight black tea character provides depth, supported by a low, clean, grainy-sweet malt presence. Clean fermentation with no notable esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of tropical fruit and citrus. The malt flavor is low and neutral, providing a clean canvas for the Strata and Citra fruitiness. Idaho 7 adds a complex pine and stone fruit layer. Medium-high bitterness is sharp but clean, leading to a dry finish with a lingering hoppy, resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
