Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40 SRM). Features a thick, long-lasting, deep tan head with dense lacing. High viscosity is apparent in the glass with visible legs.
Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of dark chocolate, espresso, and roasted grain. Pronounced esters of plums and raisins are complemented by the sharp, tart aroma of rowanberries and a faint, earthy sweetness from the nut pumpkin. Alcohol is noticeable but smooth, never solventy.
Taste. Bold initial impression of bittersweet cocoa and burnt toast. The middle palate reveals complex layers of dried black currants and figs, alongside the unique tartness of rowanberries. The nut pumpkin adds a subtle, rounded sweetness that supports the heavy malt backbone. Bitterness is firm and assertive, leading into a long, warming finish of roasted coffee and dark fruit.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, providing just enough lift to the dense mouthfeel. A smooth, pleasant alcohol warmth is present throughout.
