Nurme CONTROL IPA is a classic expression of the American IPA style, originally born from a creative collaboration with the band TESA to celebrate their album CONTROL. It presents a vibrant sensory profile defined by a punchy hop presence typical of New World varieties. Assertive notes of grapefruit zest, resinous pine, and a hint of tropical fruit dominate the aromatics, supported by a clean, lean malt backbone of pale grains and a touch of light caramel. This balanced approach ensures the hop bitterness remains the protagonist, leading to a crisp, dry finish. It stands as a refined, evergreen staple in the Nurme portfolio, offering a timeless hop-forward experience.
Appearance. Color is a deep gold to light amber (approx. 8-10 SRM). It displays brilliant clarity and is topped by a medium-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of citrus peel, sticky pine resin, and a subtle floral undertone. Low grainy-sweet malt aroma provides a neutral base, while the fermentation profile remains exceptionally clean.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward, delivering flavors of grapefruit and resinous spice. A low, clean maltiness offers a brief toasted bread quality before a medium-high bitterness takes over. The balance is firmly tilted toward the hops, concluding in a dry, refreshing finish with a lingering hop-bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
