Nova Runda’s El Tormenta is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases the expressive, fruity esters of Imperial Juice yeast. A complex hop profile featuring Ekuanot, Styrian Wolf, Callista, and Citra Cryo delivers an explosion of tropical and stone fruit sensations. The pour reveals a glowing, opaque yellow hue with a plush white head. On the palate, juicy layers of mango, peach, and citrus zest dominate, supported by a soft, bready malt backbone and a restrained bitterness. This medium-bodied ale finishes with a smooth, lingering fruitiness, embodying the quintessential modern 'juicy' profile with refined balance and refreshing drinkability.
Appearance. Straw to deep yellow (3-5 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a characteristic shine. Pours with a dense, meringue-like white head that demonstrates high retention and leaves intricate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with a massive bouquet of tropical fruits including papaya and mango, complemented by peach and bright citrus. The Imperial Juice yeast contributes subtle stone fruit esters. Malt presence is low, offering a clean, bready, and neutral grain character without any caramel or toast notes.
Taste. Explodes with juicy hop flavors of melon, lime, and ripe stone fruit, driven by the blend of Ekuanot and Citra. The malt provides a soft, lightly grainy foundation that balances the low-to-moderate bitterness. Fermentation is clean but supports the fruity hop profile. The finish is off-dry to medium, lacking any harsh hop burn or astringency, leaving a pleasant citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, silky texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-integrated. Entirely smooth with no perceived astringency or raw starchiness.
