Nós Viúva Negra is a sophisticated Black IPA that expertly balances aggressive New World hop character with smooth, debittered roasted malts. The aromatic profile is dominated by the floral, citrus, and resinous signatures of Chinook, Columbus, Cascade, Simcoe, and Citra hops. This vibrant hop bouquet is layered over a base of Pilsner and Pale Ale malts, which provide a clean, structural foundation. The addition of Carafa II malt imparts deep sensory cues of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a distinct hint of liquorice without any harsh astringency. It concludes with a dry finish and a lingering, clean bitterness characteristic of a Cascadian Dark Ale.

Appearance. Deep, opaque black color (SRM 35-40). Pours with a thick, creamy tan head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves persistent lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of pine resin, grapefruit zest, and fresh floral blossoms. Supportive malt notes provide subtle hints of cocoa, toasted bread, and light caramel sweetness. Fermentation is clean with no significant esters.

Taste. Initial impression is a firm, hop-forward bitterness. Mid-palate reveals complex hop flavors of citrus peel and forest floor, harmonized with Carafa II-derived flavors of dark chocolate, cold-brew coffee, and liquorice. The malt presence is supportive rather than heavy, avoiding burnt or ashy acridity. Finishes dry with a persistent, resinous hop aftertaste and a clean toasted grain note.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing enough lift to maintain drinkability despite the 7.5% ABV. Includes a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and very low astringency.
