A velvety whipped cream character provides a luscious, lactose-driven sweetness that coats the palate throughout. While the roasted malt base offers subtle notes of toasted bread and mild coffee, the focus remains on the pastry-inspired adjuncts. It pours an opaque, deep ebony with a persistent, creamy tan head. The balance is decidedly sweet, delivering a dessert-like profile that honors its namesake with a lingering, confectionery finish.
Appearance. SRM 35-40; opaque, deep dark brown to black in color. Pours with a thick, creamy, long-lasting tan head with fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; bold aromas of semi-sweet chocolate and cocoa powder dominate, complemented by a distinct, ripe banana fruitiness. A rich, vanilla-scented creaminess suggests lactose and whipped cream, layered over a mild background of toasted grain and coffee-like roast.
Taste. Initial impression is decidedly sweet and dessert-like. Dominant flavors of milk chocolate and sweet banana lead into a creamy, lactose-heavy mid-palate. Low hop bitterness serves only to prevent cloying, while dark malt flavors provide a soft cocoa-and-toast foundation. The finish is long and sweet, echoing chocolate-covered bananas and whipped cream.
